Rainbow Farms
"Only 60 kilometres from the Port of Halifax, the company is ideally
situated for exporting its products to foreign markets."

Founded in 1970 by owner Ronald Weatherhead, Rainbow Farms is one of the largest blueberry
producers in Nova Scotia, with over 1,000 acres of their own property used for blueberry
growing. Also, Rainbow Farms purchases berries from independent producers throughout Nova
Scotia, New brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Maine.
The production facility expanded in 1995 and grew from 18,000 square feet to 34,000 square
feet. Prior to the expansion, the facility was capable of processing and freezing three
million pounds of blueberries and now manages up to 15 million pounds of frozen product,
and a capacity to individual quick freeze(IQF) 10 million pounds of blueberries. By
boosting its production, Rainbow Farms was able to increase the number of blueberries shipped
to the United States, Japan, Europe, and throughout Canada.
Located approximately 60 kilometres from the Port of Halifax, Rainbow Farms is ideally
situated to ship its product to foreign markets. Approximately 70 per cent of the company's
product is exported to other countries.
